The founders' testaments of the Thessalian monasteries. Contribution to the study of Thessalian monasticism during the 16th cent. 

The founders' testaments of the Thessalian monasteries of the 16th century offer valuable information about the organization and the evolution of Thessalian monasticism in a period of great :flourishment. The most renamed among these documents include the testaments of Saint Vessarion, the founder of Doussikon Monastery, of Saint Theophanes and Nektarios, the Apsarades, founders of Varlaam Monastery of Meteora, as well as Ioassaf and Maximos, the founders of Roussanou Monastery. The documents mentioned above follow the main lines of the byzantine typika of Saint Athanasios Athonites and Saint Athanasios Meteorites, as well as the most famous testament of the Holy Mountain of 16th cent., the one of the Patriarch Ieremias Α, following the erection of Stavroniketa monastery.
